About Us |
|
We are currently two members...One sponsor who has created the idea, and one member who has recently joined and is helping to see the project come to life. Dean Fenton is the home owner of both the homes in Glastonbury, CT and Bellefonte, PA,. Dr. Fenton has a Ph.D. in information systems and plans to hold classes for all those interested in learning more about Sustainable Living. This is going to be very useful when planning for home based businesses. Dean is completing the Residential Construction Program at a Connecticut Community College. Meghan Donald is a recent graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz with a bachelors in Community Studies and a focus on social change and sustainability in the agro-food systems. She looked at how intentional communities can use sustainable organic agriculture, CSA’s, and permaculture, to evoke social change in the food systems and would love to see farming within our community. She has done a six month internship on an organic farm CSA as well as with the Ecovillage Training Center on The Farm in Summertown, TN. Meghan recently completed a 200 hr Yoga Instructor Training and is taking advanced courses in Boston. The both of us are working to ensure that there will be farmable land within the community at the permanent land site. We both have been learning about the seriousness of peak oil as well as how to navigate through a potential crisis. We hope to ensure some sense of local self-reliance by creating local food-systems and home-based businesses in order to lessen our dependence on oil. This however does not mean that we wish to separate ourselves for surrounding communities. We wish very much so to develop long-lasting relationships throughout the larger community built from respect. |
