Welcome!  Economic Ecovillage is a unique intensive savings and community development program.  It has been created to provide financial opportunity to a group of individuals interested in obtaining a piece of land for an Ecovillage/Intentional community.

There are many great Ecovillages and Intentional communities today that are built upon ideals which include creating greater local self-reliance, working close to home so as to lessen dependence on oil and spend less time in the car, growing organic vegetables within the community, fostering engaging community relations, promoting activities for recreation and artistic expression, alternative education opportunities, and much, much more.

Economic Ecovillage is a program that hopes to create a community enveloping these ideals.  By creating such a living situation with the input and ideas of other members we are able to make the changes in our lives that we deem important but may otherwise feel unable to control.  Generally an Ecovillage is designed with the intentions of creating harmony between the environment and the those living within it.  Rather than ignoring our impact on our surroundings we can embrace the exchange and celebrate the joys of the natural world.

Our program is unique in that we are offering the space and time for people to come together, organize, and save money.  Before creating and living in the eventual Ecovillage people can live temporarily for two to three years in a Sponsors house where instead of paying rent monthly, this money will be put towards the purchase of land and building materials for a home to be built within the community.

Currently we have two homes and one Sponsor.  The homes are in Glastonbury, CT and Bellefonte, PA.  If you are interested in learning how to become a member please continue reading through our website to understand how we are going to run the program.

It is a program of cooperation as the more people who are able to complete the program, the more resources there will be for the community.
